I know with the new trailer for my Erya, the pop axle was not an option..My question is, what are you guys using to jack up an axle so that you can manuver you boats better in the garage?ThanksMo
If I were putting specs to a new one I would definately get the pop-axle kit for resale purposes, if no other. Having said that I have the pop-axle option on my 06 Sabre but much prefer to use my “go-jacks” to move the boat by hand in the garage. They are slick.
loujoe-Just did a google search for go-jacks, they do look slick.. I would assume with 4 tires you need 4 go-jakcs?
When we got our 08 PII it was around a $200 option and is worth every penny if you have a tight space that you need to get your boat into and you dont want to buy the go jacks. If you dont like loujoe said it is worth it for the resale purpose alone.
If you need them yes but otherwise then no. With GoJaks and other ways to move a dual axle trailer like a single it isnt a deal breaker for future sale in my opinion. DD – you only need 4 GoJaks if you have to push the trailer straight sideways without any turning at all. Most people use 2 GoJaks and then you can move your dual axle trailer as if it was a single axle, by yourself I might add. A pop axle will do the same thing just a different way of going about it. As Judd said, you really only need 2 of the Go Jacks. As I get a little older the day may come that I need 4. Just not this day.
Thanks for the feedback and advise. This forum along with a great boat is why Ill be ordering my Bcat next week. Again, thanks, John W.
Glad everyone got an answer you were comfortable with!
The pop axle also seems to allow for easier maneuvering in tight spaces (alley to garage) when your backing the trailer into tight places as there is less tire scrubb taking place with the two front tires slightly elevated. Then, once you get your rig backed into the garage, the pop axle shines again, aiding in ease of mobility for positioning the trailer and boat into their final resting place.
Excellent point fish that probably should be mentioned that I didnt above. The GoJaks will only work when under human power. If you hook a truck up to the boat with them installed they spin under the trailer and require you to jack the boat up with a jack to get them out. Dont ask me how I know That is the advantage to the pop axle over the GoJaks. JL
1250lb Mechanical Dolly $89.99 at Harbor Freight. I have four of them. I can back into the middle of my garage put one on each tire and literally push the boat into the corner.
Ive been using GoJaks for years and they have been great. If you are in the DFW area, Ill be glad to let you try them out to see if they work for you. They are similar to what has been listed above.
GoJaks or the Harbor Freight clone copy will work fine. The only way on newer rigs to get PoP axles is going to so rung axles on grease hubs. It is a dependable set up and is used on narrow frame trailers also.BCB
