Possible leak around rub rail

I was putting in the other day and went to bilge before I backed off trailer to turn on poles and noticed water running in behind the gas tank in the bottom of the boat. I was on a steep ramp so the back corner of the rub rail was at the water line. Im assuming its coming in around the rub rail. Its not loose but I dont know where else it could be getting in. Should I just run a bead of silicone under the rail to reseal or do I need to remove and reseal? Any help is appreciated, Thanks

I guess I am confused about where you saw the water running in from? What does behind the gas tanks mean? Port, Starboard, superior, inferior to the tanks?Maybe BCB just knows though based on story-C.O.D. Jr. III

There is a small gap between the back of the gas tank and the transom. Water was running between the bottom of the tank and the transom on the floor and then down into the bilge area where it steps down. I could not see from inside where it was coming in the gas tank blocks the view. Puma FTD dual rear tanks passenger side. I suppose that would have been helpful info, LOL.

I had the same thing happen to me when I got my Puma. Every time Id get back to the ramp and lossen the drain plug, I always had water. I went through the whole routine of checking for leaking valves, coolers, livewells, water coming in from the rub rail, or over the bow. I eventually figured out that it was water coming in through passenger side rear facing bilge vent when I shut down too fast and didnt watch the backwash. Every time I pay attention to the backwash I dont have any water. Just something to think about.

Ive had that happen too but the boat was actually still on the trailer and I was watching the water run through that area and trying to figure out where it was coming from. Once I backed off the trailer no more water so the only thing I can think of is the rub rail. I havent bumped a dock or anything that Im aware of to knock something loose. No docks usable around here on the lake I fish anyway at 42 low.

Hmm? We would have to be absolutely sure before we got a caulk gun out. year and model?

Had a partner once with what i think? was a unknowingly disconnected pitot tube…wed fish a derby and then next time wed back in…water in bilge rolling around(from the gunnel I think? Pitot tube is water tube that comes from engine to console to your speedometer. Would dump water into boat all day with plug in and then hed leave plug in and next trip out couldnt figure where water was coming in from.C.O.D. Jr. III

08 Puma / Had the same problem / Water was running down the transom on the inside in the rear / Took rub rail insert loose to make sure all screws and rivets were tight and re siliconed under the rub rail were it meets the top cap. To make sure did this all the way around the top cap and rub rail. No more problems.
