Any one tried any of the Powell Max rods? Im looking at a couple right now and was curious about others experiences with these. I currently have a couple Kistlers and All Stars, but thought these looked like nice rods for the money. Anyone had any??? Thanks! Ben

I have had 3 for a couple years, I like them. I have Kistlers as well and like the Powells better. I broke a Powell, due to my own ineptitude, and the warranty worked as advertised. They are worth a try. Mike

I have 5 of their rods and love all of them. The ability to feel high frequency vibration like a light spinnerbait or a fish swinging and missing a 1.5 is incredible. Keith Bryant that runs the ship is a great person and a good fisherman himself. A good friend of mine left an equivalent deal with loomis to deal with Keith. They make one of everything and I just wish I could buy one of everything. I have a 734c, 706c, 703c, 683, and a 706 glass rod. The Powell rods are fairly good Chinese rods. The consistency will vary some as it does with Chinese products, and they are trying to regulate that at Powell. The Dobyns rods are also good Chinese rods, and Gary spun that out of a situation with Powell. Thats another story though! BCB

Rick said a mouthfull there RE: Dobyns and Powell……. From what i saw, the Powell rods were good rods. the Dobyns are pretty solid and well built for the price. They are not the lightest but they are well balanced and I do like the blank actions. Leaving out the fishing world business politics…….you will be happy with either rod. Personally, I would opt for the Dobyns. You might also check out the BCB rods, the Cumaras and the Crucials…… GGG

Personally i prefer the American Rodsmiths line of rods, especially the H3 Titanium series, and ive seen them outfish the Powell rods lately, especially with a big jig. Apparently the feel of the AR rod is a bit better with the heavy lure, just ask Ward !

Dagburnit I dont own one of Powells Grass Rods yet! Not even a Powell rod could have saved me from defeat that day.C.O.D. Jr. III

I got a micron of my pride back on the last trip but it took fishing one of his spots to do it. He still wont take me to his good spots. PA apparently takes Sonny to the good spots on Rayburn….Right PA?C.O.D. Jr. III
