I know you guys have hashed this all out before but its all new to me so please be patient. I have on 06 puma with a hyd jack plate and a HPDI 250. I am getting 2 power poles for sure but I havent made up my mind yet on talon or the power pole. I seen the talon mount but I am not sure on height issues with backing into my garage. I dont want to be taking off two poles and putting them back on every time I go in and out of my garage. The poles cant be any higher than the top of my out board with the jack plate all the way down. Power Pole Pro Series?1) Where does BCB recommend mounting the pole brackets for the power pole pro series, IE: between the jack plate and transom or jack plate and engine?2) Whats the proper size/type bracket for mounting it depending of course on where it gets mounted3) If it does mount between transom and jack plate how much longer do the transom boats need to be4) Do you pipe the two together so the both raise and lower together or pipe them in separately for independent operation5) Are there any other clues I need to consider prior to making this big investment? I cant afford to screw it up! Thanks fellow bass cat fans!!!!!!!!!
I would go over to Hydrilla Gear and talk with Rich, he can explain exactly what you need and a get you the best price on a Power Pole if thats what you decide to get. I have a friend with the Talon, hes the one that told me to buy the Power Pole due to not being able to get under bridges into backwater areas with his set up. Good luck with whatever you get, Mike. There are also a bunch of you tube videos from ICast. Heres a link for Hydrilla Gear: http://www.hydrillagear.com/Last edited by mike dominick on July 14th, 2011, 4:05 pm, edited 2 times in total.
Is there a big height difference, when mounted, bewteen the PowerPole and the Talon? I actually have two issues with the poles, garage height going in, and it cant sit back farther than my ladder unless it is pretty close to the motor (I have a 3 foot recess slot in the back of the garage that the motor backs into.

That could be a big issue with me too when I fish Kerr in the spring when flooding is an issue getting under some bridges. TKS
I went with the PP because of the height issues. The Talon will slide up and down in the bracket but has to be done by hand. You wouldnt have to take them off to back in the garage just lower them. If youre going to install them yourself the Talon is a breeze, just install brackets bolt Talon on hook two wires up and your done. You wont have to pull wires through your boat b/c the Talon uses a remote control. The PP can be done the same way but you still have to mount the pump and run lines. I personally like the rocker switches and dont want to have to keep up with a remote. Hell I cant keep up with the tv remote at home. As far as running them together most do, but you still have to use 2 pumps on the PP but can run both on one switch. You can call PP and they can tell you what brackets you need. I put mine between the motor and the plate. If I had to do it over Id go with PP again. Nothin against the Talon just PP just fits my own needs and preference. If you decide to go with PP Rich will hook you up and help with any installation questions you may have.
Here are a couple Power Pole links from ICast:http://www.advancedangler…0Shamblin%20Power%20Polehttp://www.advancedangler…Lane%20on%20Power%20Pole
With the quick release handles you can lower the talon with 4 quick turns of the handles. I fully understand the garage height issues but I usually make my purchases for the 8-10 hours on the water not the 2 sec in and out of the garage. I have the Talon and believe it to be the better on the water product. Jamey
Why do you think the Talon is better on the water Jamey? Just curious.
If anyone has two extra of “either brand” that they dont wont I will gladly dispose of them for you. LOL I will also settle for used ones
