Hello,

I have a 2010 Puma FTD and am currently replacing the old Fortrex with a Power Pole Move. My old TM had 6 bolts holding it down. I installed the UMP without issue on Saturday but saw John Crews installation video on Sunday and noticed newer models have the 1/2 plastic spacers. After some research, I read where Basscat posted on a BBC forum that if you have 4 bolts, you need the spacers, but if you have 6 bolts you do not. I ordered 2 sets today to be safe since the TM has a titanium shaft that won’t break, I want to be extra safe in case I nail a stump or something. With that said, I noticed tonight that the front spacer will need to be cut down due to the front bolt being so close to the edge. My question is this, am I being to OCD, or should I unbolt it, trim the front plastic spacer, then reinstall everything? I am not sure how much extra support those spacers give. I appreciate the input.

The plastic spacers and rubber supports (topside) inset do prevent stress fracturing. They also allow you to clean under the bracket and prevent gelcoat discoloration. Be sure you use the 3/8” aluminum underside supports also.

Plastic inserts installed. I had to cut and sand the corner of the front one, but I am glad I installed these. Thank you for the advice!
