Power Pole Questions????

Hey Guys, I have a few questions about installing an 8 power pole pro on my 07 puma (225 e-tec). I wanted to know if any of you have tackled putting one on your boats, how big of a job is it? Also, I wanted to know if it was better to put it through the hull or get a mounting bracket. I also need to know which mounting bracket to use w/ the puma. Thanks in advance for all the help, JY.

Im sure several guys will chime in on this. I want one for my Baycat, but just cant afford it. In talking to Sherm, he uses the bracket that mounts between the engine and the jackplate I believe, which means you have to take the engine off.

Probably wont mount thru the hull, as you need a flat surface to mount to. Surface mount is usually only done on flats boats. You will need to get one of the mounting plates from Power Pole. Not sure which one, as the sticker on mine has disintegrated and I cant read the model number. The mounting plate goes between the outboard and the jack plate – unless you have a Bobs jack plate, in which case the mounting plate will have to go between the transom and the engine. The guys in Tech Support at PowerPole can get you hooked up with the correct plate. Let them know which jack plate, engine, and hull you have.

I have one. It is not a tough job at all depending on what you have for room to mount the pump. If you are running three batteries, there is a ton of room. I run four and was able to get it in there but there werent a lot of options. BCB has the part number listed above and it goes between the Detweiler Jackplate and the motor. Get the remote control also and put the switch somewhere so you can get to it if you need it. I have had mine a week or so and love it. I think any “loaded” boat will include at least one of these from now on. Thanks to all for the input. Mr. Short, congrats on the recent win, nice work with that little crankbait. It still amazes me that I can ask a question on here & the owner of the company, Pros & fellow owners will help you out with your boat & setup. Thats awesome.
