I have an old single powerpole and a HB 360 on my Puma. Thinking about adding another powerpole or swaping for one or two talons. Talons have a swing down mount and a HB360 adapter. None of which was available when i did the original install. I did a home grown hinge for the powerpole to get under the car port Suggestions? Milton
Power poles all the way. Jut deploy them a little to clear the carport header height.
Hydrilla Gear has a tilt bracket for either Talon or Power Pole. You might want to at least check it out. http://www.hydrillagear.com/Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Ive had both power poles and talons. I like the talon better because its all electric and I can easily anchor in 12 feet. I couldnt do that with the power pole. I installed 2 with a tilt bracket and they work great. My Talon seems to hold better than the power pole I had. I guess it all depends on the individual as to what he likes best.
I dont have either yet, but Id share info from a guide I went out with last year, who guides on and around Lake Fork, in case its helpful. Hed had both and stuck with the Talon because he liked the ease with which they can be taken off. So if theres a problem, just the Talon can be dropped off for repair. I guess hed also take them off during times of the year that he wasnt using them much so theyd be out of the way….Of course he guides 300+ days a year, so his wear and tear is at a different level than most…2011 Sabre FTD w/ Mercury 150 Pro XS, Power Pole Sportsman 2s, Humminbird 898 w/ 360 and 858 at bow, 898 at ConsoleFor lots of BCB love, follow me on instagram: @professorbeard

I havent had power poles but I do have a 12 Talon on my Puma and I love it. Install was easy and the 12 foot anchoring is great. I have the tilt bracket as well works great it you go the talon route be sure you get the proper tilt bracket there is a beefed up version for the 10 and 12 version.Mike
I have power poles and have been very happy with them. The spike of the pole is often caked with mud when I retract them from the bottom of the tidal rivers I fish. The mud doesnt hurt anything and hoses right off at the end of the day. My understanding is the spike of the Talon is similar to that of the PP. So where does that same mud go? KVD has a 360 adapter on his trolling motor while running two poles. That would be my choice too.
i have an 8 signature series on my puma and dont really use it here since our lakes are reservoirs and deep so if you want another i will be selling it. its an 8 signature series w/ jackplate bracket, pump and foot swtiches. not sure what they sell for used but it works great just not for me. PM me if interested.

As to the mud, the Talon has a metal “scraper” on the bottom where the spike enters to scrape the mud/muck from the spike as it enters the Talon. This is a new addition but is on all the 10s and 12s. Is on the newer 6s and 8s and can be retrod to the older 6s and 8s.JohnJones Trolling Motor Services870 773 3474Motorguide/MinnKota/PowerPole/Lowrance/Humminbird
