If you guys only knew how bad of a rap bass boats get from walleye guys it would make this story all the better. We fished the Mercury Nationals this last weekend (300 boats). We make a long run on Winnebago and it gets rough. We were boat 68 and passed all but 1 boat heading to Oshkosh. On the way back Sunday the wind was blowing real good. We were in 18th after day 1 and had a good weight on day 2 so I gave us 1-1/2 hours to get back due to not knowing how bad Bago was going to be. We finally get out of Oshkosh and have a 20 mile drive south to Fon Du Lac with a 20mph sounth wind. There was no place to hide. Any of you that know Bago know how rough it is going to be. We get half way there and I look back to see a small line of walleye boats following in our wake. I never thought I would see the day a walleye guy would let a bass boat break the waves for them. I stop to check the fish and a couple of them stop as well. We take off and they start following. We were taking it easy as we were way ahead of schedule. I gave a glance at my partner as we got closer to the south shore and opened her up. I could barely see them by the time we got there. We both just laughed. This weekend was the best test I have given the boat. My partner was amazed at the ride. We both agreed that was the nicest ride we ever had in that tournament. We always make a very long run and it is (murphys law) always rough. He was very skeptical about using my boat over his 619 Ranger but after that he wants to use mine from now on. It was a good weekend.
