Topic: Problem With Trim Gauge on BP100 Dash

I just purchased a garage kept 93 Pantera II this past month and Im loving this boat. I did notice that the trim indicator isnt working, and its driving me crazy. None of the trim lights come on, so I tried re-programming the trim tab with the Owners Manuel, and it still didnt work. I know the lights arent burned out b/c I saw them while programming, but it doesnt work afterwards. I hope I dont have to send the dash computer off. Thats such a PIA. Thanks.Also, where can I purchase a new fuel tank indicator? The right side doesnt read.

Everyone accuses the dash of most functions not working. Though if it were a manual wand gauge, then you would go to the sending unit. This is still the sending unit. The functions on the sender go awry and then the gauge will not work properly. Get a new sending unit for the outboard and see what happens. By the way, this is very common on a Mercury, and Mercury is the default. You never told us what engine and in 93 we used bunches of all as BCB did not install engines in 1993 on retail units. BCB

Sorry, it is a 1992 Johnson Fastrike 175 HP. I did notice that as soon as I turn the power switch on, it works for about two seconds and gives the correct reading. Then it disappears for good. Very strange.

Then it disappears for good.That would seem to suggest it is the trim sender as BCB is suggesting. The BP100 is electronic and the gauge is just a display… so basically if the gauge works at all, it works.

Read the manual and make sure you invert the flag for OMC. We dont think the gauge is programming as the OMC engines operate in reverse. You must invert the flag.
