Hello all, Im new to the site so Im sorry a problem is what brought me here.I am having a problem with master power switches. I have owned a 2001 Cougar since march (I purchased it from this site). Twice I have had my switch not turn off. I attempt to shut everything down, but when I flip the switch all instrumentation an controls are fully functional as if I never flipped the switch. The first time it happened I replaced the switch and problem solved. Now 2 months later it happens again??? I rock the switch back and forth and nothing happens. Im forced to disconnect the battery.Im hoping its not something serious, but I somehow doubt its a faulty part.

Check the navigation switch to see if it is turned on at the bow. This will back feed and prevent turning off some other functions in certain cases.if it, then pull a check for voltage at varying areas with a voltmeter to determine whats up.

So I went back to check the Nav. switch, and when I removed my cover it was off. I made sure the master power switch was off before I reconnected the battery. After I connected it…….WALA! It was working fine, the switched functioned properly and nothing seemed wrong at all. I think this worries me more than before. Intermittent problems are hard to find.
