I am having a problem with the trailer lights on my 2005 puma that have left me stumped. I replaced the original lights with LED lights both taillights and the side amber clearance lights . I had no problem with the taillights and the clearance light on the right side of the trailer ,but the left side has not gone as well. As I mentioned replacing the taillights and right clearance light was easy and after each light was installed I had a battery with leads to the trailer plug so I could check each light rather than having the truck hooked up to the trailer . Installing the clearance lights requires cutting and splicing the new wires into the taillight brown wires and also the ground wire which is attached to a bolt . Again no problem with the right light ,spliced the wire and checked the lights both the clearance light and right taillight worked . The left side is a different story after I completed the splicing I hooked up the battery to check my work and no lights on the left side neither the side nor the rear clearance light or the taillight worked the right side and the rear bar worked fine as did the small light which is located above the license plate holder . The left turn signal and brake light does work however . After a bit of work I was able to get the left clearance light of work as the bolt that ground wire was attached to was slightly loose . Here is the puzzling issue however I cannot get the left taillight or rear clearance light to work . At first I though I had a bad splice so I redid that .but the small light above the license plate holder works and it shares the same power feed as the taillight and rear clearance light . My first though would be a bad ground for both lights except that they were working fine until I cut the wire by the clearance light to splice in the power . I checked all the connections at the lights and they seem fine . Also if it was a bad ground then neither the brake or turn signal would work since they share a common ground with the taillight . I even pulled the taillight out and checked it thinking maybe the light was bad but it worked fine . I don’t have any access to a meter
