boat running 74 mph w/ 27t1 prop w/ 2 guys 185lbs a piece 20 gallons of fuel and light load. only turning 5300 rpms with the prop hole shot is a little slow w/ livewells full great lift have tried a 27 tempest plus and same issues 5300 rpms but only 72 at 89 degrees or so. wandering if 26t1 or furry would be better choice anyone out there running the same rig with opinions
Either send your T-1 to a good prop guy (I like steves custom props) or get a 25 fury. Your series 2 should spin the crap out of you T-1. These both have worked very well for me personally. Also, how high/low is your motor on the jack plate? You can run the big yamaha prop much higher if Im not mistaken. If Im wrong, someone will correct me. I run mine much higher than my fury to get rpms up and it screams in colder air/water.
Doug McGee has the same setup running impressive #s you may try contacting him on here or on Bass Boat Central.
Im running the same set up as you are my 27 T1 is a lil sluggish out the hole but WOT Im running 79mph @58000rpms. I am trying out a 26p Furry to try to get more hole shot, it is awesome when running by myself 79.2 @ 58000rpms but with a tournament load Im struggling to get 76mph and I cant run it up high like my T1 ( Yes Tx76 you rite on that ) . The Fury loaded does not have enough bow lift and cant run high which makes it hard to turn in the tight canals I run in. I think Im going to try a 26p Power Tech four blade. Dave I think you just need to get your 27T1 reworked if i cant find another prop to preform I am going to send mine to Mark Croxton @ Marks propellers.
thanks guys my jack plate is so high i am having to feather the throttle when i get out of the hold prop tries to blow out when under a full load i have a 25 tempest plus off my old boat i may try to put on just to see what happens i should be able to turn at least 5700-5800 rpms with the right set up even with empty load its still only turning 5300rpms and speed is kind of crazy only loosing 1mph from me and 10 gallons of gas livewell empty vs. full load??? seems impossible but have ran it 3 times this way off of 2 different gps/s
Have you had the engine looked over.
I am running 05 puma but mine isnt acting like yalls. But i will say i have a hydraulic plate and going pretty high to get any speed out of it. I am turning a croxton worked 27 t-1 with me 265 full fuel in all 3 tanks and livewells half full to 6000 rpms at 79 mph in the heat of the day today. i ran it one morning with half that much fuel at just over 6000 and hit 80.4. I had mark add pvs holes to mine with the already present slots. I am running 2 small plus and the other plug out. I ran a 28 txp 3 blade today to 6000 at showed 77.8 mph, a 26 txp 4 blade at 6150 ran 76 and the prop i been fishing with is a 27 tempest with all 3 plugs out running 75 with me 265, full fuel, my 5year old 60 lbs and my wife 180. It has a decent holeshot but spinning it 6150. Thinkin of changing my tach to verify but i think its right as i did bump the limiter with the 26 txp 4 blade. My holeshot with the worked of 27 t-1 is good with a full one person load havent tried 2 people yet. I think it will suffer some. I am experiencing terrible slip numbers with the puma yamaha setup. Croxton increased pitch on the t-1 2 inches which is in reallity 1 1/2 inches so call it a 28.5 pitch i am getting anywhere from 14-18% slip on these things and the t-1 is a worked prop. i ran a 26 fury it was a turd on my setup it wasnt as good as the 27 tempest. Oh the stock 27 tempest will run 76.5-77 with a 1 person load but at 6150. I sure thinkin if i blow this thing up I will go back BLACK!
Doug, your sure are trying your best to challenge the PH integrity of that HPDI. Great, no, fantastic numbers. Those should learn real fast from your setup tips. Regardless of the powerplant on your boat its always interesting to read what you are doing. Keep it up brother.
tom come on down and run mine and jasons props as i know we got something that will make the SHO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did order another tach today so i can verify my slip numbers or know i been trying to push a rope up hill. I am suspecting my tach may be wrong or atleast i am hoping its wrong. i cant be having these double digit slip numbers for too long.
