I believe that the standard Trophy all ready had vent holes and the Trophy Plus has larger holes drilled with the plugs to adjust the amount of exhaust bleeding on the blades. That way you will be able to adjust your hole shot. ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
I have an old trophy 25p that has holes drilled in it behind each blade from factory. I would try it. this prop works well on my 06 classic a better hole shot then 25p tempest and carries the boat well. you can feel the whole boat lifting. The only thing I do not like about it is it uses allot more gas and the top end is about 2 mph slower.
If it does not work properly, then lets worry about it. BCB

A 27p prop, three or four blade is probably too much prop for your set-up. The largest i would go with would be a 26p, and ive seen many of my friends run the 26p Trophy on their Cougars, and they seem to like for best overall performance. Good luck, D.
My guess is you are going to need a 25 Tempest or Trophy. The 26 I would think is going to be a bit big for that setup. The Jag is a big ole boat with a lot of weight in front of the consoles, fiberglass lids, additional bracing etc. Plus that reg Opti isnt near as strong as todays XS/ProXS motors are. It will come down to those 2 sizes though. Now having said all of that if you dont want to run WOT and rarely do you are probably better off right where you are. The holeshot is going to suffer by going up in pitch and your RPMs are going to go down some. Well if you arent one to run WOT then you dont need to have a prop that is going to suffer out of the hole to gain top end when you arent running it there. I personally think it runs great the way it is. If there is no big gains, I dont see a reason for changing it. Thanks Guys Your input is appreciated.

You mean “prop slip”, not gear slip, and here is the link to calculate. http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/1555 The four blade will lift the bow better(Trophy), and hold the water better than the three blade(Tempest), although at those altitudes you may have to go to a 23p to get the gains youre looking for. The three blade is a more of a surfacing prop, which is where you lose some of the rough water bite, or feel,and the four blade should be easier to drive. When you get the rpms youre looking for you may need to lower the engine a tad to compensate for the differences in the props, as you should get more lift by doing so. Good luck, D.
At about the alt. I run a 23 Tempest or a 24 trophy. This is on a 175 opti. The 23 hit the rev limiter, so I lowered the the motor just a tad. At sea level I run a 26 Trophy. Where are you located at 5000 ft? Martin
My experience comparing Trophy vs. Tempest is that a Tempest 25p is about the same as a 24p Trophy. If youre rpms are suffering as they are due to elevation, then you probably should be turning a 23 Trophy. With that said though, no two props are the same and at times two identical props w/ the same pitch can run very different. Your only solution is to get out there and see what it does! However, you do need to get those rpms up to at least 5500 rpms to get the best performance out of your engine and boat.
