Currently running a 25P fury on my 2017 Puma FTD–2017 Mercury 250 PRO XS and it takes forever to plain out with full tanks( gas, livewells , and 2 people). Max RPM’s are around 5850 but my hole shot RPM’s are near 3000. What is the best prop for this rig as I am new to bass cat boats(love it). Used to run rangers and I have to say love this boat a lot more.
The hole shot can be as is, or it can be many things. What options are on the boat? Does it have poles, Talons, 360 or any options. Is the trolling motor a 36 volt MG or the new Ultrex?
Give us some input and we will answer some of your questions.
First off a bit of prop tweaking is daylight and dark on some rigs. Others have opted for a smaller propeller and the new Four Blade Fury.
There are many other options and the information requested will help point us in a direction.
Sorry, yes boat is fully loaded. Minn Kota fortrex 112, 2 power poles.
I have the exact same rig. And its also got duel poles and 112 fortrex. Feel free to give me a call as I have been playing with props and such here lately. Having a stock 25/3 blade worked helps alot. But it will still be sluggish in the heat with a co angler and tournament load. I just got my hands on a 4 blade 25 and its pretty impressive. I have my jack plate set at 3″ p2p. It could come up a touch with the 3 blade, and probably go down a half inch with the 4 blade. I will run the 3 in the winter, and 4 in the summer as my local lakes have alot of traffic and you cant run 70+ anywhere My best runs with the worked 3 blade, 20 gallons of fuel, half full live well were around 3-4 second hole shot and top of 76 @ 5800. The 4 blade I have run it twice above 70, around 72 both alone and with a co angler with about the same amout of fuel, I bet it could go a little more with some set up. – Matt pm sent with #
Full fuel tanks (48 gal) and Full live wells add an estimated 500 plus lbs to the rear of the boat. Thats a lot of weight to get moving. Your engine needs to spin up at least 400 more RPM’s during the hole shot. My best advice is to get the prop worked. Not every prop is created the same, trust me I know from hard knocks experience. Call Ronnie Gilbert (Broussard, Louisiana) 337-380-1437. He does majority of Prop work for BCB boats. Tell him your issue. Your RPM’s during hole shot. RPM’s at Top end. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to making a BCB perform. More than likely will add some extra ventilation holes to get the RPM’s up and tweek the prop.

I have basically the same rig, 2017 Cougar FTD but with an Ultrex and 10′ poles. I run a 25P Fury 4 blade and the all around performance is hard to beat. Bottom end and mid range is amazing, and you will still run in the 70’s.
Surfrat57, how does your Fury 4 blade load on the trailer? I have a 3 blade Fury and a 4 blade Trophy. I like the 4 blade for rough conditions, but have to back the trailer way in to get it to load.
There are no similarities between the Trophy and Fury 4 loading on the trailer. The Fury 4 will wind up if you give it enough throttle, unlike the Trophy, which bogs.
I prefer the Bravo props to the Fury 4, the Fury 4 has not been as fast for me. To say nothing of slinging blades.
I don’t have any issues with loading. I leave 6-8″ of the long bunks out of the water and the boat slides right up.
The Fury 4 will load you the same as the Fury 3. No difference.
I have an Eyra with a 250pro and have been considering getting a Fury 4 as a second prop. My current Fury 3 is a 26 which runs great. If I were to consider the Fury 4 a summer heat prop, wouldn’t I want to go down an inch on the Fury 4 to a 25? Would that 1 inch difference give me a 200rpm change under the same conditions when tested?
I’m running the same rig with poles and a 36 V Ultrex
holes shot is poor with full tanks and wells
immstarting to only run one tank on single day events.
Also I added a CB Foil and it helps. 25 Fury 3 worked by Ronnie Gilbert has helped
last week tried a 24 Fury 4 and was impressed. Need a little more time to know for sure but it jumped on the pad. The same thing happened with a 25 Tempest

If your 26 does great, the 25 Fury 4 would be an excellent summer prop. An 25 Fury 3 would also do the job. Summer heat plays hard on hole shot with live wells full on the Eyra
