pulling a tube

Are there any issues w/ tying a tube to the transom tie-down ring, or would it be better to tie it to an aft cleat? Were planning a family camping trip to Toledo Bend and apparently well be doing some tubing.

Only issue I have found is the rope drags in the water at a point where it sprays the riders in the face…. May be that you can go longer or shorter and avoid this but that is the only issue I know of that you will have.. They use those rings for a lot more weight then a tube and riders…

Use a Ski Tow Bridle. It hooks to both tie down rings and pulls evenly from each one. It should also have a float on the end you connect the rope to that will keep the rope afloat and out of the prop.

Richard DO NOT tie a ski rope off to the aft cleats and pull a rider! If you truly intend on doing this go to west marine and pick up a ski rope that has a bridle “Y” and attach to both tie down rings. Acadmy should have some options for this as well. But for whatever reason dont use the cleats to tow a tube, wakeboard or skier, unless you are only planning on doing so at idle speed.

Bass cat has a tow bar. Thats the way to go. It puts the rope over the motor. I have the bar, will sell cheap, dont have the fittings for the hull. You can probably buy them from BCBEmail if interested Milton

Been there done that. get the ski pole…. and make sure it looks into place A young kid died not long ago from the pole popping out of the seat hole and the hit the child who was skiing The pole brings the rope up out of the water and the rides gets the advantage of being pulled up and out of the water not into the water. The difference is amazing thats why the ski boats have the high mast , the higher your rope the more air you catch 🙂 When the rope is low it gets dragged into the wake which makes it very hard to tube or ski.. Have fun and remember that the max speed you want to toe your is 20 mph you May want to re adjust the weight in the boat for that , I have the potter sit upfront so we flatten out at low speeds.Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO
