I was wondering if anyone has run a 26 tempest on a puma with a 250. Im running a 27 trophy plus with motor turning 5600 rpm s. would like a better hole shot and a few more rpms. Any advice would be great. Thanks Gray

My advice would be a 26 Fury! It might be a little more expensive since there will be limited numbers on the used market!

I ran a Fury 26 at 6100 RPMs, 77 MPH. Great prop out of the hole, just eats gas and the stability is not so good, personally, I did not like this prop, some love it others havent, just a matter of personal preference. I went to a Trophy 26 and a Trophy 27 both burned out out of the hole (bad), the stability is good but suffered on speed at 72 MPH. I now run a Tempest 27, decent hole shot, 5900 RPMs, 81 MPH and the stability is awesome this prop is very controllable. My backup for heavy loads and rough water is a Bravo 1 26P, vented and balanced by Mark Croxton, amazing hole shot like a jet ski, it spins at 6000 RPMs, top speed, 76 MPH. Hope this helps.

Like PA said sounds like you need to drop down to a 26P. Your RPMs are too low and you will get a better whole shot. The lower the number you go you will increase your RPMs at Wide Open Throttle. (WOT) You will grab more water for a better whole shot but you will loose a little on top end. If you have access to other props to try I would reccomend the 26P Fury or the 26PTrophy. I would start with all PVS plugs in (no holes) and no blowout ring. Once you get close to the performance you want you can always contact a prop shop to get a little work done to gain a few MPHs. bassnc, The 26 Fury would be a start and we suggest a 26 Trophy and not a 27 on a 250 Engine. We do suggest a 27 on the 225 engines, and we know that is reversed of beliefs.

You are recommending a 27″ for a 225 motor. I have a 225 EFI and am running a 26″ Trophy Plus. I can reach 73 on the gps. Would a 27″ be better?

Not on an EFI engine, we would suggest the 26 you have. Your rig must be pre 2005.
