The Puma AE will let you fish skinnier water then the Cougar since it will float flatter due to the belly tank. My guess is the Cougar AE will be slightly faster on top end. Both fish very well. It will ultimately come down to layout preference and type of waters you fish with the Puma winning out if you like the net storage and fish a lot of shallow waters.

The only thing common is the hull and transom, as they each require a different stringer, floor, deck and all components on raw materials. Puma Adv. Elite – 33 gallon lower tank and 10 gallon kicker, less avg. 5% of head space from the EPA mandated system where the FLVV valve shuts off flow on filling. Cougar Adv. The advantage of the Puma is the belly tanks for shallow water draft and they have a more nose down attitude when trolling allowing another inch plus of draft and shallower access. Ride is a bit better with forward weight of a belly tank, though tacking waves and bow rise is better on the Cougar Advantage Elite model and easier to handle in big water.
