Hey guys. I have owned 2 pumas. I am currently big rig boatless. I have a polarcraft that gets me on the water and im planning on getting another turny rig sometime down the rd. It will probably be next winter. Anyways, I loved the Puma but was curious if the P2 would be that much better on fuel? I was very happy with my Pumas with the 225 proxs as far as fuel consumption goes. Will the p2 be significantly less? I know that it depends how you drive em etc. I ran my Pumas hard at times but i would say 80 percent of the time just kinda cruising around 50 mph. Just curious as i will be monitoring the board even thou i wont be ready for a little while. Thanks!

my guess is you will hardly notice the difference maybe 3-5% but this is strictly a guess. That is however comparing similar technology engines. Of all the rigs Ive run the optimax is the most fuel efficient of all of them.

You can see a significant fuel savings in a Pantera II over other models . The newer Sabre hull is pretty fuel efficient also as is the Eyra. There were some 200 and 250 Mercury comparisons on the Eyra that would give you an idea on the engines, though the hulls are also a factor.

I had a PII and now a Puma. You will definitely notice a difference. Keep the PII at 3800 rpms and it will seem to add fuel.

This Eyra with a ProXS 200 would be worth considering. It will touch 70 with tournament load and cruise in big water at 50 while getting great gas mileage. I know a 250 will get 80 or more but where I live it is very rare to get flat water to run that fast.

I just gotta decide if i wanna stay in the 20 foot range and if it is worth it for me. I dont turny fish as much as i use to but i will probably fish ten to 12 turnys a year. We will see. It will also depend on what deal i can find when im ready to pull the trigger again. I was pretty pleased with my puma 225 pro xs. Fuel mileage was very good. Of course the Puma rode and drove well to.

For as little as you say you are going to fish I would vote for the PII…..and you can buy mine so I can move up to a Cougar FTD!
