Ive been heavily considering both these boats but find it extremely difficult to make a decimate decision. They both turn me on and each have their strong points. I have it figured like this, looks I give the edge to the Eyra, comfort Puma, fishability about even, performance i have broken down into 2 categories rough and calm conditions. Rough water I give the edge to the Puma, calm water I give the edge to the Eyra. The one remaining factor I cant seem to figure out is which one has the edge in terms of resale value. The Eyra with its sharp new looks or the tried and true Puma. Ive been leaning toward the Eyra because I really like the look but resale or demand may sway me one way or the other. I would appreciate your commentsnand opinions. Snagy
I think resale of both will be excellent when both are at max hp rating.I think if I needed to be the fastest boat out there Id have an eyra with a 250I think if I needed max storage and max front deck Id go puma FTD. I think if I were a big guy Id go puma FTD.77 with two guys for a tournament/80 solo is plenty for me- no desire to go faster. Once that benchmark reached I like having as much storage as possible. You want more speed ability than that get an eyra.Last edited by clownshoes on March 9th, 2011, 4:07 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Puma
I would think at this point resale might lean toward the Eyra just because there are no used ones at this point. I guess it will depend a little on how long youd keep it though as time goes there will be a few show up in the used market. Bottom line is I dont think you can make a wrong choice here…
Thanks for the feedback. It has been a very difficult decision but based on your comments I believe it comes down to what is it I want to drive.Im sticking with the new Eyra. Im looking to show off the new BassCat goods and think this is the one to do it. This was harder than picking names for my kids!
Scott make sure your a averaged size guy, big guys dont fit behind the dash of a eyra, feet and knees. Pumas are huge behind the console. Try it before you choose.Your Signature …
Scott I just went through the same thing you are. Coming out of an 08 Puma my goal was more speed. I have talked to several people who had unbiased opinions on this and they all told me the same thing. Drive it first. I dont know what you previously were in but it all depends on what you are used to. A friend of mine took delivery of a 2011 Eyra 250 ProXS last week and fortunately I was able to drive it. This is what I saw: IT IS ALOT DIFFERENT! The Eyra seemed to be a lot more responsive to everything – trim steering, etc. I like the way the Puma is layed out better. I like the sportscar feel of the Eyra better. I like the new dash better. It is faster if set up correctly but for the normal user I dont think you will see the 83-85 I had been hearing all over the internet without doing a lot of experimenting with props and such. I am a normal sized guy at 58″ and 210 lbs. and it fit me perfectly. If you are 61″ or bigger sit in it first before you choose. We still dont have this boat even close to being dialed in because of weather but I can tell you just from a short period of time what it did. The guy that owns it is big (64″ around 240-250). In my old Puma with both of us in it half fuel, and tackled down I could get 78 – 79 out of it and that was pushing the hell out of it to do so. I drove his the other day and made a short run with it loaded the same way and got it up to 79.6 and let off. It was still climbing and I personlly think there is another 1-1.5 mph to be had. Both boats turning a 27 Fury 5850-5900 Rpms. My prop had been balanced and blueprinted and his was right out of the box. In the end I chose a new Puma FTD but time was more of a factor than anything. I plan on fishing out of his boat alot to get a feel for it and making my mind up on the next one in a year or so. I dont think the Eyra is going to be able to run as good in rough water as the Puma but thats also an opinion I havent gotten to test yet. Hope this helps and we will be putting up more performace numbers on both boats as soon as the weather and schedules dictate.
I definitely have a different opinion on rough water ride. The Eyras ride is very impressive. There are lots of very good and valid points but the Eyras ride is very impressive on Guntersville.Get in one drive it, evaluate it and see how you fit in it. For the taller guy the Eyra could use a bit more leg room (speaking from experience). Now that is not saying its horrible but just a we bit more room would be welcomed. The Eyra is definitely the most nimble boat in the 20 class. Its sporty for sure but solid and tight not rough at all. Chet can comment too. He was just in my boat running the heck out of it. Hes 65″, ex-Crimson Tide offensive lineman and hell give you his perspecitves on driver fit behind the wheel and how the boat rides and feel too through out the hole speed spectrum to WOT.I personally like the deck layout better then the Puma/PIV but thats personal choice. Theres not right or wrong just choice of styling. As for Exterior styling the Eyra is most attractive boat BassCat makes. Color schemes are more unique to styling. Styling does count. You cant go wrong with either because they are made by BassCat. Good luck as the comments continue. You be in the right place.

I drove Flysawtters Eyra on Monday and really had no issue with leg room. I am 65″ 260lbs and felt comfortable driving his rig. You are going to love the Eyra. What a special hull. Congrats on the new ride!
dude a buddy of mine and myself could not drive one……Now i have a size 15, and I thought you had water skis for feet also?? How the hell do you get your left foot comfy???? Im not rippin just askin? I love the Eyra even though Im not affiliated with them anymore…….I had a Mans Mental pic after seeing the Eyra in Chicago….if you know what I mean…Your Signature …
