Puma FTD vs Puma

I am looking to get a Bass Cat and I am leaning toward the Puma or Puma FTD. The biggest difference I can see is the placement of the fuel tank and fuel capacity.Can anyone comment on the advantage of having the fuel tank under the seat vs. in the back of the boat?And any other differences I might be missing?

Puma FTD has rear tanks as you said, also has under seat storage, triangular livewells, smaller rear storage boxes. Some say the Puma FTD is a little faster on top end. The Puma has larger rear storage, square lid livewell, and no under seat storage due to the gas tank placement. Console forward they are the same boat.

Its the same hull. They both will ride great. It really comes down to what you prefer as far as deck layout. I will say the Puma FTD is the best seller.

The Puma rides and sits flatter than the Puma FTD since the fuel is more forward. You cant go wrong with either one though.

The Puma FTD is an 09 Model. I own an 08 Puma, personally I like the Puma. The bigger rear storage is great for my wife or co anglers gear. The placement of the fuel tanks on the Puma gives you the option of more bow lift or fishing flatter depending on which tanks you run off of. The Puma FTD might be a little faster but set up is everything and I believe the FTD has larger livewells. On my 08 i have 53 gallon capacity 2 10 gall. saddle tanks (one on each side) and 33 gall. belly tank. The ride is great and 70+ MPH with a Hammer. Hope this helps.

The Puma FTD has the Puma front deck and the Cougar FTD rear deck. There are difference between the Puma and Puma FTD.1. As said above the fuel placement is different.2. The Puma FTD has triangular livewells and are bigger than in the Puma.3. The Puma FTD has smaller storage compartments on the back deck but has storage under the seats. This arrangement will allow the user to store things under the seats that are rarely needed.4. The Puma FTD has a recessed navigation light on the bow.5. The Puma FTD has aluminum cup holders and the Puma has plastic.6. The Puma FTD has a cooler between the seats and the Puma does not. This gives another small storage area on the step up on the front deck. This is used as the cooler on the Puma model.7. Performance between the two is practically the same.

5. Stainless Steel on the cup holders. You have been given some input on the differences and we think it is a matter of your preference on the layout. Personally the Puma FTD is our choice, though a Puma is a few hundred less and some really like that floor plan. BCB

I prefer a more level fishing platform so was considering the Puma.After looking at pics on Ikes website from the clasic,the FTD seems to sit as level on the water as any other rig out there.So maybe the FTD is for me.
