I have a 2007 Puma and starting and with both rear tanks empty I added 9 gallons to teh right and nothing to the left, anticipating they woudl equalize over time. After several weeks they had not equalized and when I switched to run on the rear tanks it wouldnt start. The next day I added fuel to the empty side and it started. Can anyone tell me why it didnt equalize or start with fuel on one side only?

The two tanks do not share gas. U will have to switch it manually at the transom. It sounds like u have it switched to the right tank right now.

Justin, it says right and left but that only goes for the front tank and the rear tanks. You have to look at the two saddle tanks as one even though they are two. When you have it switched to Right youre running on the rear tanks (at least for me that is 04 PIV). So when not being an expert I would guess that is not Genes case.- Chaz

Maybe see if you have a fuel line pinched? Have you used the rear tanks before?

oh sorry bout that. i misread an forgot about the saddle tanks. mine doesnt have the added kicker tank. it just has the two a right and left.

GeneHinshaw, You must have run the fuel low and one of the pickup tubes go air in it. They would not siphon as the air prevented that. The tanks will pull from both on the Right setting, though if they are run down they will not siphon while sitting. If you have a half tank, and top one off, they should equalize over time. The newer 2009 to 2011 models have anti siphon pickups and will not siphon between rear tanks. Better keep enough fuel in those and you run them down before you fill up. Leave a little in the belly tanks for support also. BCB
