Puma issue

I posted this on another site but thought I would post it here too. I love BCB and think their boats are the best on the water. However, I have to point out one flaw in my Father in Laws 2006 (I think) Puma and wondered if anybody else had this issue. The passenger pole storage is designed to go from the left side of the passengers feet up past the left side of the passenger chair with the bungee cord holding them at the reel level. The tops of the poles run up above the back left storage bin. The storage bin is designed to be, when opened, flush with the side of the boat. Therefore, if one is not paying attention, the door smashes the rod. I have destroyed about 5 rods now and two of the rods I am currently using have damaged guides because of this. Seems like all it would have taken was a 1 or 2 inch gap for the poles would have prevented this. I know it is my stupidity that caused the broken poles but it seems like such a simple and logical fix. Has this been corrected on newer Pumas?

I have an 2007 Puma. Same problem. I leave that compartment for whoever is riding with me. I really dont deal with it myself but if definitely does not make accessing tackle in there easy. I wish that hing was just moved over 4 inches. That being said I do love the Puma storage.

I keep rods back there while fishing. If I dont put the butts in the holes the rods sit high enough to not get pinched. Rod ramp foam like on 2011 boats and beyond makes this easier.C.O.D. Jr. III

Newer rigs such as the Cougar FTD, Puma FTD, and Pantera II have a stopper built in the cap. You could very easily install a rubber stopper on your rig to prevent future rod damage.Having the lids open in other direction would not solve problems, but only create, such as opening 180 degrees from current position would let rods fall into box and could be crushed when the lid is shut. Having the lid open facing the engine would not let the lid open to full capacity. And finally, having the lid open facing the seat would allow the wind to blow the lid open.

BCB, but wouldnt it have made sense to move the hinge toward center an inch or two allowing for a gap there?Pete, not complaining, just curious if it was just me.

I have an 08 Puma without the passenger lid stop. Any way I could see a pic of the stop to put one on my boat?
