I know this opens a can of worms, and Im just now starting to look into it, but have a few questions on my Puma performance. I absolutely love the boat, bought a few months ago, but here are my thoughts. Its an 06 Puma with a 275 Verado (Dealer called it a Puma Wide – wider beam?) He said it was an 82 mph rig. Thats certainly not why I bought it, but after my first few trips, I opened it up. I get to 65 mph WOT (on speedometer, GPS antenna had gone out by the third trip, puck being replaced now), some trim remaining, only about 5700 RPM, and she chines. I can drive it, not through it, with a little steering tweek. This is one passenger, half fuel, etc. Looking at my set-up, after some reading to understand the specs, here is what I have. Slidemaster manual jackplate, measures 3″ in from transom to motor mount, prop center is about 3-31/2″ below pad. Prop is a Bravo 28p, 4 blade. Hole shot is very good. Boat was a previous one owner, and not sure what he did/didnt do. Please chime in with any thoughts. Thanks, Ill be listening.
