I posted a question on BBC hoping to get a look at the front storage of a Puma loaded with tackle. I was told to ask here, so here I am. The front compartments are much different than Im use to with my Triton and I cant picture all my stuff fitting. Thanks! BBC Link By the way – the reason Im asking is that I;m thinking of a different boat over the next year.
Mine is unloaded right now, but will probably load it tomorrow night. I will try and take a picture and show you that you can load what you need and more. If theres any more than what you need, then youre toting around way too much!
Phil – thanks Ill watch for it! I carry to much for sure.
Russ Im working 7 tens right now. I get off work at 530 pm if you want to let me know and you can bring all your stuff over and load my Puma and see how it works out for you. Dan
Two front boxes with net storage capsule in the middle. The net capsule also has a measuring stick that is easy to get to. There is a total of 10 boxes (5 each side) of the 3700 size. Notice I do not use the strap that holds them in place. Never had one come out of the holder. In addition, there is plenty of room in front of the boxes for a jacket, extra set of clothes, etc. I usually shove my jacket or rain suit in front of them once I have one or the other on and then take it off. By the way, theres approximately 350 lures in the boxes above. Bass Pro makes a pretty cool storage box thats double sided and is the same size as the Plano 3700s. Ive got 50 rattle trap type baits in one of the boxes. This is the area that I store most of my soft plastics. In the bags above there are two sizes and I didnt measure them. The larger bags can store approximate 300-400 worms or more. I havent counted, theres enough there to last me for a while. There is 5 of these larger bags. The smaller bags can hold approximatly 250 worms. I also store two spinner bait boxes in there. These are Falcon box and they have a unique size to say the least. The size of the boxes leave alot to be desired, but they do hold spinner baits and buzz baits well. All in all theres probably close to 3000-3500 baits there and you can see theres still space on top to store life jacket if you wanted. This is the rear drivers side box. I have tools, spare trolling motor prop, fire extinguisher, rope, prop wrench, and jumper cables in the white plastic box with the P-Line decal. There is also other Plano type boxes there. The two larger ones have tubes in them. Theres probably close to 100 tubes in each box. Theres also another storage box there with approximately 30 crankbaits in. The small black box has a set of Cul M Rite Scales and cull tags. When fishing a tournament, the scales either go on top of the white box along with the tags for quick use. Sometimes the scales go in the day box. I also keep my rain suit in this box as well. There is no picture of the day box. I forgot to take that picture. There is room there to store dye, fish attractant, marker bouys, livewell additive, my keys, my wallet, 10 bags of worms and any other lure that I might use or have used during the day. There is also no picture of the rear passenger side storage compartment because it stays empty most of the time unless fishing a tournament and then the amateur, no boater, or whatever you want to call them has a place to store his stuff. If you have more stuff than this then you need to do some cleaning out!! I usually take about a third of this out as most the tackle here shown is seasonal. 9 rod and reels in the storage with none on the floor. Theres room for another 3-4 on the floor or whatever else you want to put in there. All rods fit nicely and dont bounce out on to the floor. I have the same set up on the drivers side rod box. Hope this helps. If you have further questions, dont hesitate to ask. Only thing wrong with the image is the rod holders are designed to go one over, and the next under the handles. S them around the handles and the rods will stay in place better. BCB
Believe it or not the over the top or over the bottom works good too! Ive used the “S” pattern before and to tell you the truth, Im getting too lazy to take those extra seconds to “s” them through! Good catch though! Only Rick Pierce would catch that one.
Phil – thanks very, very much for your trouble. I never would have guessed the 3700s would fit width wise. Now I see that there is more room than I thought. Do you have the little tray slots in the front 2 compartments? The one at the boat show had slots for two 3700s in each and you have 4 in each one. I can now see getting my stuff in there and still leaving room for the non-boater to have a back compartment. The smaller of my two front compartments now looks this: The rest is in one of the back compartments.Last edited by rudapa on January 19th, 2008, 12:07 am, edited 1 time in total.
Hey Rudapa, I told you that youd get a good answer here!
Interesting that you have a DT 10 in that one box that a buddy and I won a 2 day tournament on with almost 50 lbs. Yes I have the one that holds 4 boxes each side. The 5th box is on the side of the tray, but never slides or gets out of whack. What you have stored in that Triton will easily fit in the Puma. I use to run a Triton boat. As a matter of fact I owned 5 Tr21s and wasnt a big fan of the large single most forward box. Held a lot, but was not good for keeping small items organized and was more or less a throw in box.
