Puma STS 300R?

Does BCB have any insight yet to how the Puma STS performs with a 300R (TorqueMaster)?

I’m getting closer to pulling the trigger and ordering a new boat, but I’m torn on whether to stick with the 250 or move up to the ProXS 300 or 300R.

I don’t fish any HP-limited events, but I also don’t have the NEED for a 300. This will likely be my boat for a long time, so I want to love whatever I get. Fast is fun!

You say you intend on keeping this one for a while,if you go with an R motor have deep pockets for extended warranty.

Here’s my opinion on the two 300hp motors compared to the 250, the 300Pro XS isn’t making 50more as the 250 Pro XS is pushing the 10%rule and making 275. The 300R is as well and making close to 330, the 300Pro XS is probably making the actual advertised number or only around 25 more than 250. A couple things to keep in mind about the 300R is it makes a little less low end torque having the shorter length intake manifold runners as it trades some power down low to make more up top with its higher rev limiter and even on a Puma you probably would max out the Torque Master lower units 85mph limit with a 300R if you air it out.

The Generation 2 TorqueMaster should run well into the 90 MPH mark in a straight line. Now the Eyra is not supposed to be able to hit 90, engineering says the hull is governed to just under or at 90.

300R and a Gen 2 Torquemaster would be a great setup. No need for a sportmaster on a Puma STS. Of course, its not my money and I’m no expert but that would be my suggestion.

Not that we see. Some do it and they seem pleased with their performance. We think the TorqueMaster case does what everyone needs.

Yeah that governed hull sucks….89.6 is still my best.

I also have to add that Mercury racing does not endorse over 85 mph with the torque master lower. Not sure why BCB would go against their recommendation. Maybe BCB can clarify what they are saying and why their speed boat is governed.

The original TorqueMaster was around 85 on blowout, the present case does handle higher speeds. The Eyra was designed to not easily breach into 90 MPH.
