I was fishing the BCWC eastern Regional this past week on Champlain out of Plattsburg, NY. Friday we had a steady 20-30 mile an hour wind straight up the lake. Made a run that morning to Rouses Point, North of Plattsburg in 3-4 footers. The ride was a little ruff going with the waves, and hit one that put 6 inches of water into the boat. Tried to fish one spot where wed caught some big smallies but the waves were litterly coming over the side of the boat. We managed one 3-1/2 lb smallie before we vacated the spot. Wind got stronger during the day then settled a little around noon. Started my run back to Plattsburg at noon and when I broke into the big open water it was rolling 6-8 footers. Idled down trimmed up a littlle then powered the nose into the air, and for the nest 15 miles at 10 mph layed back and enjoyed the ride. Boat handled it wonderfully. The only problem I had was some of the bigger waves, when you broke over the top, the boat would pick up speed and come up on plane. Funny part was this 21 ft. R. boat that went by me, then a few minutes later was behind me following in my trail. Thank You BCB for great handling boat.
