Question about washing

Ive hesitated in asking, but here goes… Im anal about my truck and boat being clean. So before I go back to the the lake each time, THIER usually washed. Question is: many times Im washing inside the gunnels or at least rinsing and water usually gets down in the rod box and the box on the other side. Will this hurt it? Inside these boxes, Is it fiberglass under the carpet, or bare wood?…. Cause many times I find them still damp. Its a restored 93 Pantera 2.

Its fiberglass unless the restoration changed something. Get you a shop vac and vacuum the water out of the boxes and leave the lids open until dry. Theyll never dry as long as those lids are closed.

Thanks Phil, thats good news and Ive been wondering. Restoration wasnt that extensive, but I have put new rubber around the boxes, but I tend to flood it at times when washing. My buddies get a kick out of seeing fish poop get on the carpet, especially if we get into hybrids…. Good grief!! Drives me nuts lol

Preacherboy, you might try some Bassboat Saver or as Basscat recommends lemon pledge to wipe the boat down to clean it between trips. I only wash mine now if I get into some rain and serious road grime.Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra

Thanks Bigcatter! We also have Mighty Tuff for your carpet cleaning needs. It is our degreaser but it works GREAT on the blood stains and “poop” stains. It is available thru the Basscat parts department. Also look at the Showroom Conditioner available thru them also. Pro-Tec Productswww.protecproducts.com

I fish at a couple of lakes that have dirt roads and when it rains I sometimes get mud on my boat. Do the Pro Tec products still work as a spray and wipe on mud or would I still need to wash the boat before using?Thanks

I do use the Pro Tec stuff in the Spray bottle that you wipe it down with. But I fish some very stained water, and it leaves a obvious film on the lower side of the boat, and I just didnt feel good spraying something over top of the grime and wiping it down. Besides that I have to re clean the tires and re apply the tire shine anyway lol. I know yall think Im crazy, but if I could fish as good as the rig looks, Id be a Pro lol. Its a 93, but I can pull beside any new one at the landing, and at least one ALWAYS asks, “what year is that thang?” I just wished I could catch some doggone fish…. But Im learning….. Slooooowwwlllyyy.
