Question for Bass Cat.

There are reasons that they did not have them and they were begun on later models. They tried to keep bilge slosh, mold in areas and other challenges more restricted. About 3 years ago they began placing drains in some boxes. Your carpeting will get just enough moisture to cause a problem from seepage through the latches. Then the carpeting will retain it and keep things humid and they will rust. The older days the thoughts were to seal the boxes and keep them as dry as possible.A leak test on your boats will tell a whole lot about where an older boat like these is leaking. We had one last month that was leaking in areas we never suspected and a leak test showed itself on where. 1. Empty out your boat2. Place brown bags or paper in the bottom of the rods boxes.S3. latch the boxes and tilt the nose up. 4. fill a garbage can with water. A large garbage can and DO NOT THINK A hose will work for this dunk test, it is not enough volume of water.5. dunk the garbage can on the front deck flooding the decks. 6. let all the water drain off and once it does7. open the boxes and the brown paper will have dark areas where the water is leaking.Now you can work to resolve the leaking area with knowledge of where the leak is coming from. Once you have found and seal all the areas, dunk test it again, the same way, and find out if you were successful. BCB

My 98 model Jag leaked in only a couple of lockers. The worse was the rod locker. I mean it would take on tins of water. Needing to dump the Shop vacuum at least once. (It was a smell one). But it always came thru the latches. Had the old percos. I installed the new stainless latches and never leaked again.My 2014 Eyra has been in some major downpours and doesnt leak a drop in any of my lockers.
