I was involved in an 18 vehicle pile up on I-10; my boat left the trailer. I was wondering what to do if I cant get the insurance company to claim my boat as “Total”. I dont feel there will be a problem with the vehicle, but was wondering how to deal with the boat, motor and trailer. Can BCB check the structural integrity? Looks like your pretty lucky, judging from those pics. If that boat checks out o-k, talk about a promo boat for basscat. Looks like a hellaof ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad that you are doing okay after something like that. Hope all goes well with insurance and you get back on the water soon. Hope everyone else was okay also. pant 2 Bob
Gator – Glad you made it through ok. The truck and boat can be replaced; you cant. Time to hug the love ones. Looks like it was a scary ride. All the best – Richard
Wow, that looks scary. Glad to hear that everything was OK.Kent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax
Since you have these images, apparently you made it through that mess without major health issues. That is our first question? Hopefully everyone in your family is alright and there was not much injury in the incident. That is pretty ugly! The boat may or may not total, and that is not what you want to hear. It you would be so kind as to contact [email protected] with more images, we would be glad to give it a look see. 2006 or 2007 Cougar FTD? There will be some and could be lots, and lots, and lots of stress fractures under the gelcoat that will appear after some time. Usually about a year of good usage, they will pop up for the most part. Get in touch with Service and get them the images. We will see from there and they will have the best estimate written they can to figure out what the tally is. The engine looks to be alright, and the trailer looks pretty messed up. The hull bow eye area we assume is either a triangle shaped bow eye or it has other bow damage. The rub rial look sot be off. The battery trays would need to be checked for location and more. The stress that the motor toter put on the transom as it was launched would be significant. It would depend on how much stress the straps softened a blow. Get the images to Service and they will see what they can do. They will be honest and give a real time estimate. The trailer and any LCR, motor work or other damages would help your cause some. Though it is what it is.
I am very glad to be able to post a message after being involved in an 18 vehicle “Crash”. I was somewhere around vehicle 4, 5 or 6 in the whole mess. Many prayers and hugs were and still are in order. BCB, Thanks for the response! The boat is an 05 Cougar FTD, I will send as many photos as I can to Service.
Man, thank God you guys are OK. A lot depends on what type of policy you have. A replace new or as good as new is what I hope you have. When I totaled my trailer BC was a huge help but the insurance company didnt pay much attention to what they had to say. What you really need to do is get your boat to a REALLY good glass shop specializing on bass boats and insurance claims. I think theres no doubt your trailers totaled. Agian, if you have a replace new policy youll end-up ordering a new trailer from BC. If you didnt have one on your trailer, make sure you get a grab pole on it even if you have to throw in a few dollars of your own — I love mine. Good luck and dont forget, youll be back in the water before you know it. And praise God for protecting you and giving you more days to fish!
Gator- I still cant belive you were involved in that. Seems you werent the only BCB to have issues over the weekend ( http://bbcboards.zeroforu…at-stumps-big-repair-bill ). I still cant believe the D rings on the back of the boat snapped in half, i would have thought the straps would have broke first. Glad to hear you are ok, and the truck and boat can always be replaced. Let me kow if you want to wet a line, though it will be for green fish not those red ones in louisana!
Sure glad youre okay. I saw some footage of that crash on the news yesterday. I think I heard an interview with you on the phone on Fox 10 news this morning. At least it was a guy in the wreck whose boat came off the trailer. I live just a few miles south of the wreck. Too bad I couldnt have helped you in some way.
