I have installed the new style rubrail on my 2007 Puma Widebody. The installation went well, but the new material does not seem to fit in the rubrail groove as tightly as the old did. I have pulled the new insert tight and that seems to help. I have not screwed it down yet and was wondering if there is a trick I missed or some type of tip you have when installing the new material. Thanks R.Keeling
RKeeling, The insert is a retro, though it is a little bit looser than the older style. That is due to the construction, and also we have recently had this conversation with our vendor. It seems that they may have the extrusion or durometer off. BCB
Is the new rubrail housing that is used today different than in the past? Are there plans to get the new insert with a larger diameter tube that holds the insert in place? I am going to try this one to see how it goes, but you can pull it away from the housing about an 1/8 of an inch fairly easily. I dont think that it will come out unless it gets snagged on something. It definately looks better than the older style. Thanks RK
If you can only pull it out an 1/8″ or so you should be fine there RKeeling. This rub rail insert was designed to retro fit the original rail and enhance the coverage. The actual rub rail should cross over on dimensions. BCB
