I got my new tach today, the one with the S.A.F.E. warning lights! In the directions it says connect the dark blue wire and the black wire from the harness. Well in my boat I have 3 wires with the harness that was zip tied up front, one white with tan stripe, one purple and one black! Which ones do I use and not use or which replaces which? Also what do I do with the wires that were connected to the other tach looks like about 5-6 wire no harness plug? Last issue is when I turn my key to the first click, it does nothing, but if I turn it to where it has spring tension on it, and hold it there the fuel pump kicks in and the lights come on but if I let it go it goes back to nothing! Any suggestions? Thanks

We do not know the wiring code on the BRP engines from memory, though can you contact your BRP dealership?

Now I am puzzled, you (BassCat) wired it, and hung it on the boat! I dont have a BRP dealer I can just run to, I drove to Mt Home to pick up my boat, someone there has to know about it, they did my last 2 Pumas with ETECs just fine, this one was omited for some reason! Thanks

We are not the factory technicians. They come on BRP packages, though on NexSysLink they are not standard due to the gauges controlling the functions. It had to transfer through a BRP dealership as the factory does not sell direct.

Denny,They contacted me tonight to see if I can help. I have not installed that system check gauge in a few years myself and I dont have the schematic at home tonight. I just cant remember though the wires mentioned dont sound like the colors I recall, so BRP may have altered the color code. Like we talked about on the phone the other day, since you sent in the engine from BRP direct to us and it was not ours, we did not install the gauge or charge for it, nor did BRP apparently provide you one. Marks (Marks Marine) technicians can probably help tomorrow, though Im not sure our crew has that Wiring color code in house. The BRP engines we have hung have the NexSysLink gauges which should function most of the views, through NMEA. The only rig we hung analog gauges on had a 115 on it and we contacted that dealership because the gauges were not in stock at BRP and they installed it. Sorry I cant help more tonight, though I really dont have the answer on the Evinrude question now. Tomorrow Marks crew or ours can get with BRP and find an answer. Rick
