Question Lowrance HD

Just a little food for thought BlackJack. I have a Lowrance Prostaffer buddy and his opinion is that dash mounting any electronics will cause premature failure due to increased shock and vibration. Im no expert on the subject but I trust his judgement when it comes to my very expensive electronics. Per his advice, I Ram mounted my helm unit as well as my bow unit and made a cover to fit the hole on the dash from the previous piece, using heavy velcro to hold the cover in place. While this may not be the most elegant solution, I think it looks fine, gives me easy access to electrical wiring behind the console and allows me to take my HDS off the boat when traveling. Opinions will vary Im sure, but you can take it for what its worth.

well i can say this i had mine mounted on the Mount and My Nephew has his mounted in the dash of his Triton . Now as to the response of the shock and vibration i think it is Better to put it on the mount and my Nephew was fishing Lake Millwood in ashdown Arkansas which is one tough lake due to it being Full of Timber and stumps . There are a few Boat lanes in it and if you dont have a GPS or a Good map then you can tear off a Lower unit real Quick . Anyways he was Fishing Saturday and his GPS went out on him and he was in a part of the lake he hadnt fished very much and was relying on his GPS to get him out . The Problem his Cable on the Back of the GPS had Fallen off and had it been on a RAM mount he could have seen that Easy . So IMO i think the Ram mounts are much better due to the Shock and Vibration that it takes you can see and tighten the cable very easy .
