I just turned 10 hours on my new 08 Classic. I have noticed from the beginning that I get a tilt to the port on my hole shot and it has been leveling off when I trim the motor up to the top of the read out. (Yamaha 175 HPDI) Today, I filled the gas tank almost full and put water in the live well to see if that would help the problem, but it really was worse. With the motor trimmed all the way down and my hydraulic lift just down from mid erange, on the hole shot, the boat has a strong tilt to the port side and the bow is down and when I trim the motor up enough to feel the torque on the steering wheel start to disappear and I still have the port tilt. My passenger weighed a little less than I do. If I turn slightly to the starboard, the boat levels out. I have very little weight in the left rod box. The right rod box has mostly fishing stuff, extra worms, line and baits, but more weight that the port rod box. The center box has my fishing stuff, rain coats, etc, so the most weight is in the center box. I had an eight pound anchor in each of the rear storage boxes, so I moved both to the starboard rear storage box and that did make a difference in the tilt, so that when I get the motor trimmed out the tilt is mostly gone. I have three 50 lb batteries, Sears, with two on the port side and one plus a full oil container on the starboard side. My partner suggested that I adjust the trim tab on the rear of the motor to correct the tilt, because when I put pressure on the steering wheel for a slight starboard turn, the boat levels out, but I am turning slightly to the right. The tab is adjusted so that it is turned about 20 degrees to the right of center. I told him that it was adjusted on to correct torque on the steering and should not effect the boat leaning to the left. Question: would adjusting the trim tab have an effect on the tilt to the left on my hole shot. (as soon as the bow comes down, the boat is laying to the left side.) The troll motor is mounted on the left side of the bow. I am thinking this might be a factor. Also the lighter batteries might make less weight in the rear of the boat, and the bow weight may be more of a factor? I tried to rock the boat to the right to see if fuel was loading to the left, but when I came back to straight the boat leaned to the left again. Moving the anchors to the starboard rear storage box did improve the situation. The boat still leans to left on the hole shot until I trim the motor up. The hydraulic jack plate has no effect except to bring the bow down when lowered beyond normal setting and loading the steering. Any suggestions, appreciated. Skipjack
