Im going to add pumpout on my livewells. But I was wondering if the pump had to be higher or lower than the livewell. Im worried about water draining through and leaking out the thru hull fitting. It seems like with no valve that the water would just run right through. Im just trying to think this out before drilling two holes in my boat.

The outlet should be in the top cap, beside the bilge outlet. The pump should be in the rear wall of the well, at the lowest possible flat area which allows room for the fitting and nut. BCB

so water will not flow through and leak out the back when the livewell is full. thats what im really worried about.

I dont see how water could passively leak out if your hose is going through the top cap next to the bilge outlet. That location will be higher than the water level of your livewell. Therefore, water cannot rise above the level of the livewell. It sounds like you should be fine if you follow BCBs recommendation. I have that same setup on my boat and have never had a problem.
