I recently purchased a 2005 Puma and have a few questions? 1. Some of the lids seem to not fit completely flush when in down position. Is this normal or can something be done to correct? 2. The carpet is not in bad shape but a little dingy in places. What would the cost of a complete carpet replacement be. The boat is in great shape, but new carpet would make the whole boat look brand new. 3. This boat has a hydraulic jack plate, Yamaha 250 hpdi. Any starting point suggestions for finding the sweet spot? Im sure ill have more questions as this is my first BC (formerly Champion owner) and the boat is only 1 week old. All feedback is appreciated. Thanks

You can adjust the lids using the locks. Loosen the set screw and move the locking arm to where you want it and retighten the set screw.

I have a 2005 Puma and replaced all my Perco locks. I had a couple split the latch bolt at the set screw so you might check for that as it makes them lose. I bought an 1/8 inch allen wrench with the T handle just for the boat. Dont usually need to adjust these but I know right where it is when I need it and it is easy to tighten the screw. There was another post recently on these that you need to read also.

Before you replace the carpet, scrub it down with a vinegar / water solution. This may get the carpet looking like new again.

7:1 water to vinegar. I just did this a few days ago, and it make a big difference. Scrub carpet with a bristle brush and the vinegar/water mix. Use resolve carpet cleaner for any really dirty spots or stains. Works great, and my carpet is 6 years old. Yours should do even better unless its been abused by previous owner. We like a soft brush and Dow Bathroom Cleaner, aerosol with “Scrubbing Bubbles” and that seems to work on most everything to some degree, except rust. The latches are in need of tweaking as they mentioned, and they cam arms are needing tightened. The latch stem could be bent also. That is probably a Detwiler Hydraulic plate, SO PLEASE Check the four stem bolts that are around the center Ram for tension. Make sure these are kept tight, as they loosen and the plate ceases to function. Thus requiring an expensive rebuild. Detwiler will help some on the rebuild, and you should eventually plan on it. Though preventive maintenance will end this also. BCB
