I went to get some oil the other day and all I could find was premium and premium plus synthetic blend. Is the synthetic blend and premium plus the same?

Ive been to Bass Pro,Academy Sports and Wal- Mart and the synthetic premium plus is all they have on their shelves.

This subject get real deep. There are many articles across the net about this. Premium definitly is not the same as PREMIUM PLUS AND SYNTHETIC BLEND. Though I have read where PREMIUM PLUS AND SYNTHETIC BLEND was the same oil just a different container. Quicksikver. Ive read where it was just a marketing technique. I DONT KNOW FOR SURE THOUGH. In the colder months I run premium plus or synthetic blend which ever I can find. In the summer month I run the dfi opti oil. At my job we have a oil lab it test oils. One of these days Im gna put a end to all the guessing. I gna get the PREMIUM PLUS AND THE SYNTHETIC BLEND TESTED. Just like my manuel clearly states premium plus. Though my friends says opti dfi. One yr apart.go figure!. I personally think the opti dfi is recommended because it burns cleaner for epa readings. But that just my opinion. I kno many will disagree. I like running the DFI because it is a different color. it lets me see the difference of lower fluid (blue) vs the DFI (brown). if I notice oil, I have a much better chance of finding what my issue may be.as far as the burn rate, cleanliness etc……., I would call Mercury and get their opinion.

The premium plus synthetic blend is the same as the premium plus and the premium synthetic is the same as the premium.. As I recall, when they added the synthetic blend designation each retained the same part number. But to further confuse the issue mercury and quicksilver have different part numbers and packaging for identical items.
