Quick TM mount question

Was doing some routine maintenance on my Puma yesterday, and noticed that the screws holding my Minkota to the deck are loose. Wont tighten.Just to confirm — there are nylon lock nuts under the deck, correct? Access to these is accomplished by removing the trolling motor plug faceplate, correct?Then, just simply squeeze a hand in there (somehow), hold nut and tighten? Stupid questions, I know — so thank you.

You are correct and I would tape or tie a string to the wrench that you use to tighten the bolts, so that if you drop it you can get it back. And I forgot to say to try to get all the bolts tightened evenly, because if you dont the base will be torqued making it hard to latch when deployed or stowed, and also it could make it quite noisy.Last edited by 1stinLA on February 13th, 2017, 5:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I sanded the TM plug plate hole too to prevent glass slivers. I also had to put grease around hole so I could get my arm in/out. I have a 07 Classic and that hole is pretty small and my arms are pretty short. I just stuffed some rages down in space below the bolts to catch an errant tool or nut that might get away from me.
