I would go with the 2 1/4″ ball and not the usual 1 1/2″. The larger Ram mounts ball is a little hideous looking but will serve you better in the rough stuff and at high speeds. With the smaller ball I tend to always have to place the white face cover on and place the unit in the down stowed position. No matter which one you choose, they are very pricey. Glynn
