This is what I did for my 1197. I bought the big 2 1/4 ram mount, went to Rammount.com and downloaded the PDF file for the drawing. With this I made a Aluminum plate I think 3/8 thick and 4″ square. I drilled and taped the bolt holes for 1/4 x 20 SS bolts flat heads. I bribed my son with an I tunes card to hold the plate in position while I screwed it in place. he tried the rod locker but found it easier to go thru the MT plug hole. My arms was way to big to fit. One thing I did was place a glob of silicone on top of the plate to help hold in place under the deck. If I needed to remove the bolts and or this help aid in insulation.
