Has anyone used this style Mount ? Mounting the Ram mount to the hand rail, that way less or no holes at all will need to be drilled ? I was testing my new HDS 5 using my existing wires and it seems like rigged this way, facing a little forward it would be easy to see, and I wont have to drill into the console or top cap. I have sen a garmin 240 rigged up that way and the hds5 is about the same size and weight. It worked good for the guy i know that ran his garmin that way for years. I woldnt mount a big screen that way but a 5in display should be fine.
I have a Lowrance 104 on that mount and it works great.There are two different size balls you can get with that mount so be aware of that. Bigger is better..
