looks like the sabine river was it for tharp and evinrude . weighin yesterday at guntersvill running a rice burner .

I saw a pic of Tharp on the water and noticed the SHO and then saw a Yamaha emblem on his jersey. David Walker is still running his. I saw one in person and ran behind one on Rayburn at the OI. It is still a different looking machine. Dad and I were taking it kind of easy on the waves but still moving at a good pace. Another BCB with a Mercury came past us. The G2 at the OI was a 225 Caracal rig.

Are there any bad issues coming out of the wood work on the G2? Hope not mine is just fitted and ready to be shipped from the BCB shop.

We ran the original 225 production engine on the Caracal. That engine remains functioning good with no operation issues. The verdict is no doubt out on G2 Evinrudes and we await the long term knowledge of performance. From our experience they have a nice product.

Guess Im just slow to upcoming trends this AUTO TRIM for me Im still anxious to see where it go. Im sure there are safety features incorporated in this system. Guess for me something as sensitive as trim I will stick to trim at my control.Not control of a computer. If the accident ws caused by a malfunction. Hope they have it figured out. I couldnt imagine running 70 0r 80 and the motor trimming completely out uf the water. I hope to read more and learn more on this system and how it works. I would imagine there is an option to turn the auto trim off but Im just guessing. Motor has a lot of applications besides bass boats including a lot of pleasure boats and these new yacht like pontoons where the auto-trim would be desirable. Saw a 350 G2 on a pontoon boat at the boat show. It was one hell of a pontoon boat.

I was a Marshall on Guntersville this past week with the Elites and noticed the engine change on Tharps boat. I was going to ask him about the change was never had the chance. The only Evinrude I saw in in use was on some of the camera boat guys. Most all had Mercury, many SHOs, one Suzuki (Card), and on Honda (Elias). I was looking for the new Rude just to see how they ran, but no luck. If there was one there, I did not see one.
