Raymarine

I saw it briefly on a 5″ model but not long enough to make a judgement on it. Tom Mann Jr is sponsered by them and he has used them for years but now is retired from pro fishing. We are mutual friends with someone who is trying one out – thats the one I saw. If you can wait a couple more months I will be able to give you some good feedback on my opinion. I have HB so that will be the comparison.

I fished some with my friend who is test driving one of these for raymarine to give them review.My take is Very User friendly. Push the knob and just scroll around to different applications.Screen is nice and bright. No problems in daylight conditions.GPS refresh rate super fast. Down imaging pretty good. I didnt mess with the setting of sonar – it didnt seem as good as others but still pretty good. I could see my jig go down. Im sure if I could play with setting more then it seemed it would work fine. I never saw a fish but they arent out deep right now. Would have liked to see some to see how it picked them up.A second unit was on and I didnt notice a lot of interference but would like to see it mounted on a trollling motor.The sonar disappeared when on plane….perhaps settings or transducer mount.The knob control thing is different – I guess just getting use to it.When depth changes and screen updates to a different zoom level there are black boxes at the bottom of screen that bothered me. My friend says that is one thing he will state in his review. Should be a simple fix in software update.Dont know anything about linking two units.All in all the unit seemed very solid.I think my friend will be buying two 9″ screens so we shall see more data to come.

Flyswatter has done a lot of research on them. Weve discussed it here a few times…. I want to say there is one person here somewhere that has them…. But that might have been on the other board…Timmy Horton uses them, as well as several other pros. No surcharge for Chirp transducer. Thats a lot of bang for the buck!
