The cable/switch may be broken, sounds like it’s stuck in auto (fill). The valve can be accessed in the bottom of your bilge behind your livewell, you should see the cable running to it. reach down and flip the valve the other way. The switch usually breaks where it connects to the cable, right behind the switch.
Empty releases water and keeps it out, auto lets water in the wells and holds it. That is when the valve is operating properly.
Thanks BCB, have read that before but this 2001 Pantera III dash without instructions hard to figure out. My 02 Classic I had for 8 yrs. had Smart Craft gauges but they were easy compared to this digital dash & small smart craft gauge. The valve switch under the throttle has zero effect no matter how it is moved – auto, middle, empty so assume that switch is broken? Have to see if I can reach the valve in bilge to close, appears to be maybe 6 – 8″ back from the live wells (physical problems may make that very hard to do – will see?). Right now water comes in no matter what position switch valve below throttle is in and will not drain at all unless using the pump out switch.
Bob, are you saying you have one of the BP Superdash units in your P3? If so you can go to the main BassCat website and go to the menu tab. All the older dashes are listed under manuals.
It just read like you had an older dash and needed the info to me.
According to note the guy had, dash is a Super Dash Model BP101-B, manual should be 2.0A released 11-15-99. Will have to go over it and see what I can figure out. Can’t see anywhere water pressure PSI gauge is, if there is one. Speedo hasn’t worked but just got some hardened wood out of speedo hole so will see next time out – if I can get on plane for speed to show? Not sure how many of the functions work fully as due to problems with Opti first trip, trolling motor each trip, have only made one good fishing trip. Have to check out manual, I see BCB manuals shows BP101 not BP101-B but think one on boat is just slightly newer version than the one showing on BCB site, likely everything works almost the same way. I know clock, water temp are way off – engine shows nothing nor does oil temp. Assume some things may be able to calibrate? Thanks jignpig for info – should help after copying/reading to get most of functions working right, maybe?
More questions on this rig! Only had in water 3 times of which only once able to get on plane to fish. All 3 times water comes into the live wells no matter what position the switch is in – also they will not gravity drain while running nor after boat pulled out of water, except by the “pump out” switch. No gravity drain at all it seems? There is no “hole” in bottom of livewells to try plugging up to prevent water getting into them – I don’t need water in live wells as do not fish tourn. any more. This boat has the old type smart craft gauges in huge dash – nothing there seems to control water in/out of live wells unless I’m missing something. Never having seen a dash like this one very possible it’s just me not knowing how to get to work. But the empty – neutral – auto switch below the gear shift should control something and appears to do nothing no matter if in either position or in the middle?
You can get a lot of info. I had the 101 in my 97 P2 and I still have the 100 in my 96 Eyra. Unless the B version changed, the water pressure was an add on analog gauge. My 101 has tach, speedo, clock, engine hrs, barometric pressure, programmable timers for aerator and recirc. Also a ” %efficiency ” that was supposed to let you know how well your running.
And a compass. Couple other buttons you’ll figure like lights, horn, etc.
If it turns out the computer seems to be not working there are some troubleshooting tips that you can fin in FAQ, to check. Cleaning connections is first. If it’s still inoperable you can get a replacement dash insert with analog and a touchpad from BC. I know they used to give you a $100 credit to return the old Super dash but they’ve gone through a lot of changes so you’d have to check. Good luck!
The B model has the Water Pressure in the unit and replaced the compass as GPS was coming forwards then. Folks don’t realize GPS was not a common thing in bass boats till mid 2000’s.
The manual is linked on the .com site and the BP-101 dash is the finest assembly ever installed in a bass boat. Once you figure out everything it’s a great unit and had extremely few failures. Even dashes we have traded for as flawed are often operational and the boat is suffering corrosion issues and bad grounds from moisture. The only repetitive issue is loss of backlight pads for night use, those have a life cycle and when consumers left them on after starting the morning they just wear out.
We no longer have the manual on line, though an active link should be somewhere if we can find it on an internet archive.
