Just reading your comment. Was interested to find out if Mercury is doing anything about these issues – other than warranty (ie recall). We have 2007 250 Pro XS and it has always had that rattle you referred to. Sadly we dont have any reliable Mercury mechanics anywhere near us – motor has always run fine but is the noise is worrisome. Any input would be appreciated.

All of them have been rattling, the consensus is that the motor mounts are doing the rattling and youll have to live with it- mine does the same!!BAYOU BANDIT

Yea, I have heard the 250s rattle, mine is the 225 Pro XS and had never rattled before in its 300 hours until a few hours prior to the failure.

The 250 engines have a harmonics vibration at mid range. The 225 does not have a harmonics vibration. The harmonics lends to no problems other than the feelings you have. Otherwise it should be no factor.

I have a 175 Pro XS, does it have the same harmonic issues??? It is new and I have not noticed anything at this point. Anybody reported same?

The harmonics vibration is only on some of the 250 Pro XS models and does not trace over to other models. Thats what that Noise is on the Mercs? I find it weird as a Merc dealer that Only SOME of the 250 Pros have this problem, Id definitely research that one, thats like having a 2008 Tundra that when shifting from 2gear to 3 gear it makes a noise, But Hey only on some of them? Not starting Chit, just being a customer advocateYour Signature …
