re-opening loc-r-bar question

I have a loc-r-bar i have not installed yet on my 06 puma. I have resently read the last post made about this topic and am now tentative about putting it in. i know a theif can and will get into something if they really want to i just want a extra deterant. I do want that extra piece of mind and/or security though on my boat but also want the best there is out there. has anyone tried/have/or know about the phillips fishing products front deck bar http://www.phillipsfishingproducts.com/ … ucts13.htm. I can only find these two on the market. Any other suggestions? Thank you

teh best one we have seen is the Tak-L-Safe and that was a great bar. Though it is no longer in production. The Locker Bar is a good brand and if you were to use one we would stay with that one.

Thanks. I do got a locker bar but after looking at it i dont want to drill a hile in the boat myself so ill scheduale a apointment at a dealer to look at it. Two big holes in the new boat Scary thanks for your input!!

I have a Lok-r-bar on my PII. Its is well worth the piece of mind as a deterent/security feature. I know they can be bypassed if someone REALLY wants in. But I feel at a hotel out, of town, with the alarm on, and other boats that a thief with move past mine. Not a 100% gaurantee but it it does help.

I also put the locker bar on my P2 and I think it is a good deterrent as there is out there. Most time i do take my rods into the motel not just to have more peace of mind, but also retie and re rig. I feel comfortable with the bar in place as I hope they pass me by. georgeGeorge

I put the bar in myself. Like you said, the hardest part is getting the courage to drill big holes in your boat. I measured 3 times, held my breath, and drilled the holes. The only caution is that BCB does use pvc pipe to run wires to the front of the boat. I was able to “push” the pvc enough to install one of the side inserts. Just follow the instructions and you will do fine. After it was all said and done I really like having it there. If you are still uncomfortable doing the project have you local shop do it. Just make sure you and he are in agreement on where you want it drilled and placed. Once its there, its there. Good Luck! georgeGeorge
