Ok, I am looking to maybe re-power my 2006 Puma and trying to decide if its worth it???Looking at a mercury 250 PROXS or a Yamaha 250 SHO.Love to hear some feed back.Thanks,Jim

Going to have a hard time getting a SHO for a while. I’m hearing they are backed up on orders

Why repower a 12 year old boat with a 2018 motor.

There is nothing wrong with repowering and older boat in good condition and customized the way you like it as long as you plan to keep it a while. One other thing to realize is that Mercury MAY be introducing a new 4 stroke 250 next month.

2 strokers rulethereforemercury is the answer.what is the current motor? merc 250? if so, get that baby rebuilt (much less $) and you can have it bored .20 over or so and really start living. unless you want a warranty, then you are back to square 1

Im guessing the 06 probably was a special package rigged with 225 Pro XS.

My current motor is a Merc 225 Pro XS.

My 225 Pro XS is still running good, but I have almost 600 hours on it. I have replaced the compressor about 200 hours ago and all the cylinders have great compression. Just thinking I would like to have a 250 and something under warranty. Redoing the boat with new carpet and seats and trolling motor.
