Rear Seat post

Which part is broken loose? Glass in hull?

Ive been trying to post picture for several days now….not happening. The post appears to be loose under the deck. There is a round plate welded to the seat post and it appears to support the deck around the post. It was never loose. Now it is wobbling. There are no screws or anything to hold this in place. Anyone else have this ?…..Thanks…..Mike

Mike (laps19), what year and model is this boat? There are several situations and is this the bushing in top, the actual deck and post, the base at lower or where? BCB

There is about 1/8 inch gap from bushing to the deck.

Simple fix. Build a “dam” around the bottom side of the deck where that post goes through. Modeling clay works well – small rope pressed up against the bottom. Then get some high-quality SLOW CURE epoxy. I warmed up each part of the epoxy separately using a hair dryer (this thins them out further). Then mix and use a small syringe to squirt the epoxy into that crack. Keep adding until it stops sinking in. Let it be for 24 hours and it wont budge again. Fast cure epoxy is too thick and is hard to get in. I found some marine epoxy at Home Depot that I used. Really worked well and since it was white, it matched my top cap perfectly (even though the repair is not visible unless the live well doors are open.) You can also use tape to make that dam, but be aware that if you leave a gap, you get a mess when the epoxy drips.I explained this to someone a couple of years ago and he went with the tape. Turned something in the bilge into a pile of cured epoxy. He said “I thought that a whole tube of epoxy was a bit much.” I asked “what gave you that idea?” 🙂
