Rebuild, replace, or wait…Vault hub…

So I blew out the port side hub on my Sabre single axle trailer, marina ordered the parts to rebuild it and it turns out an inner sleeve was a bit chewed up, so I have an entire new end unit on the way.Now Im trying to decide on the starboard side…do I have them go ahead and rebuild it, order another end unit and swap it out myself, or wait until theres an issue? I kno the vault is a great hub set up. Though im one that has has alway done a seasonal tear down and inspect. So the most logical thing imo would be to jack the remainder hub and tire up. Grab the tire and check for side to side movement. Look on the backside and check to see if the seal is leaking. Roll the tire and check for rotation smoothness. I would think fishing line is probally the cause of majority of failures. So check for line on the backside. If all is tight and feels right why change? Unless they have sevrals yrs on them. Then if your like me and for peace of mind i would either replace( probably the easiest). Or tear it down inspect and replace needed parts if necessary . Though remember my opinion is one of many!. As bad as i want to my vault are pn their 4th season. So im jacking up twice a season and checking. This is helpful for sure! Boat/trailer is 6 years old, so Im leaning toward just getting another whole new end unit and having two fresh new hubs/units with 5 years of peace of mind. Absolutely replace the other side too……You know the frustration felt when the first one went…..its worse when 2nd goes….Ask me how I know. Just replace and be done with it.

Yep, going to order a second end unit today and install it myself. Figure a whole new set will get me 5 more years, which will prob get me to a new boat.Install looks pretty straightforward. Mark where the unit sits with the existing saw cut (the split).. a thin chisel may be required to spread the split for a easy ” slip off”2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
