Recarpeting Basscat Puma Questions

I want to recarpet my 2007 Puma. To a normal owner, this would seem ridiculous, but I am very picky with my Basscats. I took a quick look today to see what is involved. It looks like the carpeted lids are attached with a combination of rivets and square drive scews. Can anyone offer any advice? What tools will I need? What are the easiest ways to remove the carpeted lids and reinstall them? What is the best way to remove the old carpet? How much carpet will I need to order from basscat? plan to do one lid at a time, over the course of a couple weeks.

You can drill out the rivets and replace in like kind with new. Bass Cat will be able to tell you the exact amount of carpet to get, I have heard length of boat plus 10 (dont qoute me on that). The most important thing is to remember to line up the pile correctly or it will look like different colors on each section.

You are about to undertake a major do it your self job for even those with some experience. The carpet job is not overly that bad, though when disassembly and reassembly are considered it can be overwhelming. You will need a good area to work in with some room. Contact cement and brushes are available locally and we would not order those. Carpet we would only suggest the BCB style as it is the highest quality. The rivets and machine screws are drill heads out, punch through the bases and remove the nylock nuts. You will need new neoprene washers for resealing those screws. Carpet volume will vary on person, though get the front deck precut and the other parts are not that bad. Contact parts if you really want to tackle this one. BCB

How is the black edging on the cockpit floor carpet held in?Any tips for removing the old carpet? And the old glue? I heard acetone and a scraper does the trick.I think if I do one panel at a time, over the course of a few weeks, that should make it much easier.

The trim is adhesive & rivet. The tug, pull, scraper and acetone method is the only way.

I usually use an 1/8″ bit to drill out rivets…doyou know if that will work with these rivets?

Yes, that should work just fine on the small rivets.

The rivets on the black trim are really small. The rivets holding the lids on are bigger, some have round holes and some have a square indent. Any words of wisdom? I just want to be fully prepared. I will post before and after pictures.

Make sure that you keep the carpet going in the same direction, or it will look like 2 totally different colors. I redid my pantera 2 over the winter. You definitely want to get some good contact cement for the edges.
