On my new truck the receiver measures 2 and 1/8 inches and my old one was 2 and 1/16th. (inside measurements) There is that tad more play in the new one when I insert the ball mount into the receiver and before I tow with it I wanted to check and see if I am missing something since all the ball mounts I see, including my current one, are 2″ diameter. It would depend on the brand, though yours does not sound like a Reese brand. Some trailer shops carry off brands and they can be different. You may have a little slop in there, though it should only cause some excess pin wear and hole elongation.

New Toyota Tundra. Factory Equipment. I guess I can see what off-brand they are mounting.

Its not a off brand , its metric. Go to the Toyota dealer and pay 2 or 3 times what it would be at a local store but it will fit. Johnny

I have a 07 Toyota Tundra 4×4 and i went to Tractor Supply to get mine and it fits tight. If you dont have one near you the go online and order it, it will be cheaper than Toyota. That is http://www.tractorsupply.com

We are not aware that tube is the receivers is metric. That one is new to us on truck made in the USA. Though you may be correct. We assumed since Toyota was built US in most trucks, they were using US steel receivers. BCB

Iceman, thanks for the heads up. Ill check out Tractor Supply. Hard to imagine Im the first to have this issue. BCB – This one was built in Texas, cant get much more USA than that. Thanks for the help. Joe

This might be beneficial to someone else. My local “trailer-hitch shop” had the solution. “Silent Hitch Pin w/Lock”. Has a large spring loaded nut that fits inside the ball mount shank that basically draws the ball mount to the side of the receiver when you tighten it down. Has a lock on one end like you would expect and a substancial nut with lock washer on the other to bring it all together. Takes all that slop out. Should work for anyone with slop in the receiver and I would definately think other new Tundra owners are going to be looking for. Made by Tow Ready. Maybe not new to all but certainly was to me. Toyotas own $80.00 ball mount was not the solution as it was 2″ diameter as well. Go figure. Joe
